planting school orchards in richmond, ca with common vision

Common Vision‘s tree planting team creates powerful community experiences in neighborhoods and community centers across California.

At Nutiva, we are working with Common Vision to plant an orchard of fruit trees in every public elementary, middle, and high school in Richmond by 2016.

This project, the first of its kind, will serve as a benchmark for the potential of school orchards to significantly impact a local food-shed and support a culture of healthy eating. Planting orchards in every school will provide students with access to fresh and locally grown produce, and contribute to the building of a healthier Richmond community through shared community resources and accomplishments.
